The nurses provide a comprehensive service, which includes health screening, CHD, asthma and diabetes checks, and immunisations including children’s immunisations. You can make an appointment to see the nurses at reception.
Our HCA’s work as part of the nursing team providing regular appointments for the blood tests, new patient health checks, loan of home blood pressure machines and taking BP readings (GP/Nurse referral only).
There is a midwife at each surgery where ante-natal clinics are held each week. Cheadle Hulme clinic is Tuesday 15:00 - 17:00 and Wednesday 08:55 – 15:00.
Please book an appointment at least 6 weeks before you travel. We offer a limited service due to workload constraints, but we are happy to offer alternative contact numbers for other travel clinics. Please note that certain travel vaccines are not provided by the NHS and a charge may be levied for their administration.
From September each year we offer several clinics for patients to have an influenza vaccination. If you have a heart, lung, diabetic or other chronic disease it is important that you have the vaccine. If you are over 65 years, the flu vaccine is recommended.
Unlike the flu vaccine, the pneumonia vaccine can be given at any time of year; however, you may have the vaccine at the same time as the flu vaccine. It is only given once unless you are at particular risk, which will be identified by your doctor. You should have the pneumonia vaccine if: You are over 65 years. have diabetes, asthma or any other lung disease.
All the doctors are qualified to give contraceptive advice. Please make a routine appointment with your usual GP. We are also able to offer cap fittings and insertion of coils.
The doctors can arrange access to counselling services for help with stress, bereavement, crisis management and relationship problems. This is done by referral via the Primary Mental Health Team at Stepping Hill Hospital and patients can usually see the counsellor at Wilmslow Road Medical Centre. There are lengthy waiting times for this service. A practice counselling leaflet can be obtained from the surgery detailing other local services a available to you.
Child Health Surveillance is a series of checks carried out at the surgery to monitor the growth and development of children under the age of five. An appointment will be sent to you at the appropriate time.
Parents are normally notified by post when it is time to bring a child for its routine immunisation. However, if you believe your child is overdue you do not have to wait for an invitation. This applies especially to new patients whose records may take some time to arrive. No appointment is necessary at these clinics and a doctor is always available to answer queries or give advice regarding immunisations.
